Welcome to Brooklyn Town Government, Green County The Town of Brooklyn is located in the northeast corner of Green County. It is primarily rural, with the Village of Brooklyn situated at the northeast corner of the town, and the small settlement of Attica at its southwest corner. Brooklyn's location affords residents easy access to Madison (25 miles northeast), Janesville (30 miles southeast), and Monroe (35 miles southwest). A majority of the town is in the Sugar River Watershed with the river flowing through the southwest corner. Other smaller feeder streams flow into it. Liberty Pole Park hugs one of the sharp turns along state highway 92. Landmarks include the Peace Church toward the southern end of town, the Brooklyn Town Hall on the western edge of the Village of Brooklyn, Town Transfer Station on Benson Road and the Jug Prairie Cemetery on Yarwood Road. Brooklyn's 203 children attend five different school districts: Albany, Belleville, Evansville, Monticello and Oregon. The 2000 census reports Brooklyn has 944 residents. Brooklyn's rural character, central location, excellent services and progressive government add to the charm of what we call home.
